Most of us try to take a new year resolution on the new year’s eve. It may relate to our health, family, habits, relationship, goals etc. But, many of us find that despite our ‘best’ efforts we are not able to stick to our resolution beyond an initial period of time.

One small practice can help us better keep to our resolutions. Start early!

Start 10-15 days in advance before the new year evening:

  • Mentally prepare yourself by reminding the importance of your resolution and its benefits to you on a daily basis
  • Start associated activities with your resolution as well. This initial ‘warm-up’ period will strengthen your belief in yourself in following the routine. Your habit will become more set in by the help of this initial period of practice.
  • Write your accomplishment, achievement of your resolution in a diary/notepad on a periodic basis .
  • Ensure to ask your loved ones to remind you of following your resolution on a periodic basis.
  • Nothing better, if you can find another person/friend etc. who can take a similar resolution as yours. You both can keep a tab on each other in following the routine.

Happy New Year!
