We plan and we strategize. We try to anticipate based on our past experiences. We develop elaborate plans to help us guide through the maze of uncertainty and better manage the available resources.

But, do we realize that eventually our plans too often change. They evolve, they break, they change, they get dumped.

In fact, they are meant to be broken. I would not have become an engineer if I would have pursued my plan of becoming a doctor. I would not have done my MBA if I would have pursued my plan of pursuing technical education.

All our planning provides an initial pivot to us to start our journey but we need to be flexible enough to change, to evolve and to adapt swiftly. It may involve us appearing as stupid enough to dump our own plans but what needs to be done has to be done, at some point.
