sha7vYesterday I was watching the NDTV award function held on the occasion of 25th anniversary of commencement of NDTV. They were giving awards to top 25 Indian personalities in a diverse set of fields right from arts, science, medicine, economics to cricket, business and writing etc.

Shahrukh khan, a famous Bollywood actor and celebrity, shared his two advices for the youth of India. I particularly liked them as they were quite pertinent for all of us.

So, here they go:

  • Have an attitude of gratitude. It involves having a gratitude towards the almighty, your parents, teachers/gurus, and close friends without whose support we would not have reached where we are and we would not have become who we are. Also, it includes gratitude towards countless number of people we meet and interact with on our life journey. Our accomplishments are possible only with the help of these people, the community we have interacted with. So thank them from the bottom of your heart.
  • Don’t try to be someone else in life. You will always find a person better looking than you, taller than you, handsome than you, smarter than you etc. but that is not we need to focus on. As they say – ‘Better be yourself, as everything else is taken’. We can’t afford to pretend being someone else because of two reasons (Both of these things are needed to keep a learning attitude and constantly progress in life.):

– We loose our freedom to fail as we become afraid of our own-self and constantly compare our successes and failures with others

– We loose our ability to say ‘I don’t know’ or ‘I can’t do this’.
