A leader’s job is sometimes like building an army – an army of soldiers, lieutenants, colonels etc. He hires people who share his passion and vision. He shows them the distant vision and marshals them with the job at hand.
He trust his band of soldiers. He knows that the war is won through the strategy of management (senior leaders) and heroics of motivated soldiers. The war is to better perform than anyone else in the market and add value and serve customers to delight them in every interaction with the firm.
His network of lieutenants play a key role in ‘getting the job done’. They are his shadows. He helps them grow. He will rejoice in their successes but will take responsibility of their failures.
