Having traveled to different countries, I have noticed a peculiar phenomenon on Indian roads. The drivers here are unaware, mostly, of their ‘haste‘.
They honk while standing on red lights.
They will find the shortest possible route even if it means traveling wrong side of the road, overtaking from wrong side, moving on blocked roads etc.
They will be insensitive to fellow drivers on the road – assuming they are the only ones who are in haste.
Braking and Speeding will alternate and focus will be to achieve maximum speed possible at all times.
Have we taken a step back and observed this haste of ours:
- Why are we always rushing though there might not be apparent need of it always?
- Why do we ignore all traffic rules to be the first in this race?
- What will happen if we reach a few minutes late where we want to reach (assuming we are not getting late for it) by not being in this haste?
- Is it always justified to have that much pressure on our minds while driving?
Try being aware of this haste once and you will definitely see a difference in how you drive.
