Anger at workplace – is it justified?
Like the rule with our personal lives, at workplace as well – anger does not solve problems. It is of no use and causes more damage than it benefits.
A sub-ordinate does a mistake, you incur a loss, a blunder occurs etc. But then, realize that what had to happen, has happened. It can not be reversed.
What can you do to take a step forward and control the damage? How can you make that person your ally in controlling the damage?
If the employee realizes his/her mistake then it is more than enough. Till the time he does not repeat, your anger is not justified.
A good articulation and realization of what went wrong, why it happened and the lessons learnt becomes the need of the hour to ‘benefit’ from that mistake.
Anger (controlled and timely) should be a tact and a tool, and not something which happens on its own without your control.
It is tough but not impossible.
